Federal Pell Grant Program
The Federal Pell Grant Program provides federal grants to undergraduate students on the basis of financial need. Eligibility for the Federal Pell Grant is established by completing the . Students can receive this award for up to twelve (12) full-time semesters. TEACH Grant
Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education. This program provides up to $3772 per year to students who intend to teach a "high need subject" in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families. If, after reading all of the information provided at , you are interested in learning more about receiving the TEACH Grant, contact the Financial Aid Office. This grant becomes a loan with interest accruing from the date of disbursement if students do not meet the specific conditions.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
A limited amount of this grant is awarded annually to students with exceptional financial need. Contact the Financial Aid Office with any questions.
WV PROMISE Scholarship
The is administered by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission and is awarded annually to high school seniors who meet the academic requirements and submit the FAFSA and state application. Specific requirements must be met to renew this scholarship.
West Virginia Higher Education Grant
The is administered by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission in Charleston, West Virginia. Information is available through the . The must be received by processors as soon as possible after October 1 and before April 15 to be considered for this grant. High school students must have 2.0 GPA or GED score of 2500. Students must be full time and meet academic progress goals to continue eligibility.
West Virginia Higher Education Adult Part-Time Student (HEAPS) Grant
The encourages and enables needy West Virginia students to continue their education on a part-time basis (3-11 hours) at the post-secondary level. Recipients will be selected from applications each year by the representative institutions of higher education based on the applicant鈥檚 eligibility and the availability of funds. HEAPS grants are eligible for renewal consideration. Requirements for a HEAPS grant include:
- A completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid ()
- West Virginia residential status for the past 12 months
- Enrollment or accepted for enrollment in an associate or bachelor鈥檚 degree
- Maintain satisfactory progress
- Cumulative grade point average of 2.0

Underwood-Smith Teaching Scholars Program
The is a competitive scholarship for recent high school graduates with a passion for teaching and a history of high academic achievement, community service, and active involvement in extracurricular activities while in high school. Recipients will receive $10,000 per year for up to four years (up to the cost of tuition and fees, room and board, and other approved educational expenses). In exchange, Underwood-Smith Teaching Scholars must agree to teach in a West Virginia public school in an area of critical need (math, science, elementary education or special education) for a period of five years after graduating from college.
West Virginia Engineering, Science, and Technology Scholarship
is a student financial aid program designed to enable and encourage academically talented individuals to pursue careers in the fields of engineering, science and technology. Scholarships, not to exceed $3,000 per academic year, are awarded on the basis of academic qualifications and interest in the fields of engineering, science and technology. Priority is given to West Virginia residents.
